Sally Mann 1951-present

This photo is called Candy Cigarette and its a wonderful piece because if you had no idea it was a fake cigarette it could symbolize how children grow up way to fast.

Louis Comfort Tiffany 1848-1933

I love everything that Tiffany has created but one of my favorite and his most unusual art works is this vase which I recently saw at VMFA.

Claude Monet 1840-1926

This painting called Water Lilies was one of the first paintings I was exposed to in elementary school and I will always enjoy its serene essence.

1. Photography and Film

My number one choice for a major is Photography. I have found my love for photography at the age of sixteen and by seeing all the talented pictures at the department made me fall in love all over again.

This collage of different photography advertisements is reminding me of why I picked photography as my number one major choice. The reason why I picked this is because it was the first subject of art that I was introduced to in high school and because it is my way of letting myself go and escape from all reality.

The darkroom is a big part of why I am here attending the art foundation and by taking this picture I wanted to pay respects to the room who at the same time gave me hell also rewarded me with the opportunity I have in the VCUarts today.

2. Fashion Design

My second major choice is Fashion Design. I love this display because it shows fashion through the history of previous VCU fashion students.

This picture of a classroom inspires me to create what I call portable pieces of art. It was also fascinating to watch students learn about the wonderful world of fashion.

As soon as my eyes laid upon this display I immediately was drawn in to the fashion world and created a sense of excitement for my upcoming project class in fashion at the end of the semester. Also I am intrigued by the contrast between this display and the first display of the manikin because it shows how much fashion has changed visually but mentally it is just the same.

3. Interior Design

Interior Design is my third pick. I really enjoyed the architectural aspect of the displays around the department.

The signs create an invigorating image of what the possibilities interior design can bring.

Even though I wasn't able to go into the classrooms this image of a well designed living room still kept me interested.
